The last secrets of Machu Picchu – Episode 1 – A door to the unknown

The story begins in 2010, when David Crespy, a French engineer on vacation in Peru, believed he had stumbled upon a “secret door” at the base of one of Machu Picchu’s main temples. In 2011, he contacted the French explorer Thierry Jamin. Initially skeptical, he was soon convinced by Crespy’s discovery. He proposed the hypothesis that there were burial chambers still intact at the heart of the Inca citadel.

In April 2012, Jamin and his team received approval from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture to conduct electromagnetic surveys at the presumed location of the burial site. The electromagnetic surveys took place in April 2012. They revealed the existence of a staircase leading to a quadrangular chamber, and then to about ten human-sized cavities. Undoubtedly tombs. But they also discovered significant deposits of non-ferrous metal objects (silver and/or gold).
